Product Description
Inconel 625 Plates, Sheets, Strips & Coils
High-performance nickel-chromium-molybdenum-niobium alloy (UNS N06625, 2.4856, Alloy 625) manufactured in the USA by SMC/ATI/HAYNES.
Material Properties
Alloy 625 is an austenitic nickel-chromium-molybdenum-niobium alloy offering exceptional corrosion resistance combined with high strength from cryogenic temperatures to 1800°F (982°C).
Key Characteristics
  • Strength derived from solid-solution hardening by molybdenum and niobium
  • No precipitation-hardening treatments required
  • Excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking
  • Resistant to oxidation and carburization in high-temperature service
  • Easy welding and fabrication using standard shop practices
Industry Applications
  • Aerospace: Bellows, expansion joints, ducting systems, jet engine exhaust systems
  • Air Pollution Control: Chimney liners, dampers, flue gas desulfurization components
  • Chemical Processing: Equipment handling oxidizing and reducing acids
  • Marine Service: Steam line bellows, Navy ship exhaust systems
  • Nuclear Industry: Reactor core components, waste reprocessing equipment
  • Offshore Oil & Gas: Waste flare gas stacks, piping systems, riser sheathing
  • Petroleum Refining: Waste flare gas stacks
  • Waste Treatment: Waste incineration components
Standards Compliance
ASTM: B 443
ASME: SB 443
AMS: 5599

Hardness200 Brinell max.
Corrosion Resistance
Alloy 625 demonstrates outstanding corrosion resistance in severe environments, with virtual immunity to chloride stress corrosion cracking. The alloy resists attack by mineral acids including hydrochloric, nitric, phosphoric, and sulfuric acids, as well as alkalis and organic acids in both oxidizing and reducing conditions.
Fabrication Data
Hot Forming
Working temperature range: 1650-2150°F (900-1177°C). Heavy working should occur near 2150°F with uniform reductions to prevent duplex grain structure.
Cold Forming
Can be cold-formed using standard practices in annealed condition. Work hardening rates are higher than austenitic stainless steels.
Welding
Readily welded by GTAW (TIG), PLASMA, GMAW (MIG/MAG), SAW and SMAW (MMA). No post weld heat treatment required.
Machining
Should be machined in annealed condition using low cutting speeds and adequate cut depth to avoid work-hardened zones.
