Product Description
Inconel 600 (UNS N06600) Nickel-Chromium Alloy Plate
Chemical Composition: Ni 72.0%, Cr 15.5%, Fe 8.0%, Mn 1.0%, C 0.15%, Cu 0.5%, Si 0.5%, S 0.015%
High Performance Alloys stocks and produces Inconel 600 in bar, wire cuts, sheet, plate, strip, tube, and pipe forms.
Product Overview
Inconel 600 is a nickel-chromium alloy designed for use from cryogenic to elevated temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C). The alloy offers excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures and provides good resistance in carburizing and chloride-containing environments.
Key Characteristics
  • Resistant to a wide range of corrosive media with chromium providing better resistance under oxidizing conditions
  • Virtually immune to chlorine ion stress corrosion cracking
  • Demonstrates adequate resistance to organic acids including acetic, formic, and stearic acids
  • Excellent resistance to dry gases such as chlorine or hydrogen chloride up to 550°C
  • Good resistance to scaling and high strength at elevated temperatures in annealed and solution annealed conditions
  • Resists ammonia-bearing atmospheres, nitrogen, and carburizing gases
  • Non-magnetic with excellent mechanical properties and good workability
  • Readily weldable with cold forming characteristics similar to chromium-nickel stainless steels
Applications
  • Thermocouple sheaths
  • Ethylene dichloride (EDC) cracking tubes
  • Conversion of uranium dioxide to tetrafluoride in contact with hydrofluoric acid
  • Production of caustic alkalis, particularly with sulfur compounds
  • Reactor vessels and heat exchanger tubing in vinyl chloride production
  • Process equipment for chlorinated and fluorinated hydrocarbons
  • Nuclear reactor components including control rod guide tubes and steam generator baffle plates
  • Furnace retort seals, fans, fixtures, roller hearths, and radiant tubes
