Product Description
Inconel 625 Alloy 625 DIN2.4856 Plate & Sheet
Manufactured in USA by SMC/ATI/HAYNES - Premium nickel-based alloy plate and sheet materials in stock
General Properties
Alloy 625 is an austenitic nickel-chromium-molybdenum-niobium alloy offering exceptional corrosion resistance combined with high strength across temperatures from cryogenic conditions up to 1800°F (982°C).
The alloy's strength comes from solid-solution hardening provided by molybdenum and niobium within the nickel-chromium matrix, eliminating the need for precipitation-hardening treatments.
Key Characteristics
  • Outstanding corrosion resistance in severe operating environments
  • Excellent resistance to oxidation and carburization at high temperatures
  • Resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion, impingement corrosion, and intergranular attack
  • Virtually immune to chloride stress corrosion cracking
  • Easily welded and processed using standard fabrication practices
Applications
Inconel 625 plate and sheet serve critical roles across multiple industries:
  • Aerospace: Bellows, expansion joints, ducting systems, jet engine exhaust systems, thrust-reversers, turbine shroud rings
  • Air Pollution Control: Chimney liners, dampers, flue gas desulfurization components
  • Chemical Processing: Equipment handling oxidizing and reducing acids, super-phosphoric acid production
  • Marine Service: Steam line bellows, Navy ship exhaust systems, submarine auxiliary propulsion
  • Nuclear Industry: Reactor core components, control rod parts, waste reprocessing equipment
  • Offshore Oil & Gas: Waste flare gas stacks, piping systems, riser sheathing, sour gas piping
  • Petroleum Refining: Waste flare gas stacks
  • Waste Treatment: Waste incineration components
Standards Compliance

Fabrication Data
Hot Forming
Working temperature range: 1650-2150°F (900-1177°C). Heavy working near 2150°F, lighter working down to 1700°F. Use uniform reductions to prevent duplex grain structure.
Cold Forming
Perform in annealed condition using standard practices. Work hardening rates exceed those of austenitic stainless steels.
Welding
Compatible with GTAW (TIG), PLASMA, GMAW (MIG/MAG), SAW and SMAW (MMA) processes. No post-weld heat treatment required. Stainless steel wire brushing removes heat tint.
Machining
Machine in annealed condition using low cutting speeds with continuous tool engagement. Adequate cut depth prevents contact with work-hardened zones.
