S31254 F44 1.4547 254SMo Two-Phase Stainless Steel
High molybdenum content combined with elevated chromium and nitrogen levels provide 254SMO with exceptional resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Copper additions enhance corrosion resistance in specific acidic environments. The balanced composition ensures excellent stress corrosion cracking resistance and maintains high mechanical strength with good ductility and weldability.

Metallographic Structure: 254SMO features a face-centered cubic lattice structure, typically annealed at 1150-1200°C to achieve optimal austenitic properties. The material demonstrates excellent impact strength and corrosion resistance across various industrial environments.
Corrosion Performance
With very low carbon content, 254SMO minimizes carbide precipitation risks. It demonstrates superior performance in chloride, bromide, and iodide-containing solutions where conventional stainless steels would experience pitting, crevice corrosion, or stress corrosion cracking. The alloy maintains excellent corrosion resistance in sulfuric acid, diluted hydrochloric acid, and performs well in fluorosilicic and hydrofluoric acid applications.
