253MA is a high-temperature stainless steel grade that combines excellent service properties with ease of fabrication. This austenitic stainless steel resists oxidation at temperatures up to 1150°C and provides superior performance to Grade 310 in carbon, nitrogen, and sulphur-containing atmospheres.
Also known as 2111HTR, 253MA contains relatively low nickel content, offering advantages in reducing sulphide atmospheres compared to high nickel alloys and Grade 310. The inclusion of high silicon, nitrogen, and cerium contents provides excellent oxide stability, high elevated temperature strength, and superior resistance to sigma phase precipitation.
