Hastelloy C-22 Alloy Characteristics
HASTELLOY Alloy C-22 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy offering enhanced resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. The alloy resists grain boundary precipitate formation in weld-heat affected zones, making it suitable for as-welded applications.
C-22 demonstrates outstanding resistance to both reducing and oxidizing media, providing reliable performance in upset conditions. It offers excellent weldability and high corrosion resistance as consumable filler wires and electrodes, serving as an effective filler wire where other corrosion-resistant wires have failed.
The alloy's ductility facilitates easy cold-working, though it requires more energy than austenitic stainless steels due to its stiffness. Heat-treated 0.28" thick sheet exhibits an average olsen cup depth of 0.49".
