HASTELLOY Alloy C-22 Characteristics
HASTELLOY Alloy C-22 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy offering superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Its unique composition prevents grain boundary precipitate formation in weld-heat affected zones, making it ideal for as-welded applications.
This alloy demonstrates exceptional performance in both reducing and oxidizing environments, providing reliable protection during process upsets. C-22 exhibits excellent weldability and serves as an effective consumable filler wire and electrode material, often succeeding where other corrosion-resistant wires fail.
The alloy's ductility facilitates cold-working operations, though it requires more energy than austenitic stainless steels due to its stiffer nature. Heat-treated at 2050°F with rapid quenching, 0.28" thick sheet achieves an average Olsen cup depth of 0.49".
