409L Stainless Steel Pipe for Exhaust Systems
Stainless steel grade 409L is a chromium, titanium-stabilized ferritic stainless steel specifically designed for automotive exhaust systems. With 11% chromium content—the minimum required for forming the passive surface film—this alloy provides excellent corrosion resistance while offering medium strength, good formability, and cost-effectiveness.
409L stainless steel demonstrates superior corrosion resistance compared to carbon steel and serves as an ideal alternative in moderately challenging environments where corrosion resistance and high-temperature oxidation properties are essential. This material is particularly suitable for applications where mechanical properties and corrosion resistance take precedence over aesthetic appearance.
