Product Description
SUS444 Stainless Steel Sheet
AISI 444 / EN 1.4521 stainless steel sheet, ideal for stainless steel water tanks and industrial applications requiring superior corrosion resistance.
Product Overview
Grade 1.4521 is a dual stabilized ferritic stainless steel containing 2% molybdenum, equivalent to European code 1.4521 and American standard ASTM 444. With excellent corrosion properties comparable to austenitic grades 4401/4404, this material features higher strength values and improved surface properties due to niobium alloying.
Key Applications
  • Food processing equipment
  • Brewery and wine making equipment
  • Hot-water tanks and heat exchangers
  • Automotive components
  • Solar water heaters
  • Drinking water applications (approved by German DVGW and Swiss SVGW authorities)
Material Properties
Corrosion Resistance
Molybdenum alloyed ferritic steel with localized corrosion resistance close to grade 1.4404/AISI 316. Excellent resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking. Optimal performance achieved through efficient design, correct post-weld treatment, and regular cleaning.
Formability
Readily cold-formed by all standard processes, particularly suitable for deep drawing with performance comparable to deep drawing quality carbon steels. Lower work hardening rate than standard austenitic grades, making it easier to cold form and machine.
Welding
Low carbon and nitrogen contents with titanium and niobium stabilization provide better weldability than many ferritic steels. Heat input must be minimized to prevent grain growth in HAZ. Austenitic fillers are typically used.
