Service Cutting
Duplex 2205 stainless steel (both ferritic and austenitic) is used extensively in applications that require good corrosion resistance and strength. The S31803 grade stainless steel has undergone modifications resulting in UNS S32205, offering higher resistance to corrosion.
At temperatures above 300°C, brittle micro-constituents undergo precipitation, and below -50°C they undergo ductile-to-brittle transition, making this grade unsuitable for use at these temperatures.
Duplex 2205 (UNS S32205) is a nitrogen-enhanced stainless steel chosen for its excellent corrosion resistance and high strength. It offers superior corrosion resistance compared to most austenitic stainless steels, with additional benefits including:
  • High resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion
  • Excellent performance in most caustic environments
  • Good weldability
