Alias: UNS S21800, 218 Stainless Steel Product Description Nitronic 60 (UNS S21800) is a high-strength austenitic stainless steel with nitrogen and manganese alloying. It is famous for outstanding galling and wear resistance, superior yield strength compared to 304 and 316 stainless steel, and good corrosion resistance. Nitronic60 remains fully austenitic even after heavy cold working, so it will not become magnetic. It is widely selected for applications where metal-to-metal friction, seizing and wear happen under corrosive environments.
Chemical Composition (wt%, balance Fe) C ≤0.10 Mn 7.00–9.00 Si 3.50–4.50 Cr 16.00–18.00 Ni 7.50–9.50 N 0.08–0.18 P ≤0.040 S ≤0.030
Mechanical Properties (Hot Rolled & Annealed, Reference)
Note: Cold worked Nitronic60 can achieve much higher yield strength while maintaining non-magnetic property.
Specifications
Features
Applications Valve stems, valve seats, pump shafts and wear rings, fasteners, sliding bearings, marine hardware, food processing machinery, paper industry equipment, petrochemical equipment, gate components, wear plates, mixing blades, any parts subject to friction, seizing and mild corrosion.
