17-4PH Precipitation Hardening (Type 630) is a chromium-copper precipitation hardening stainless steel designed for applications requiring high strength and moderate corrosion resistance. This alloy maintains high strength up to approximately 600°F (316°C).
Alloy 17-4 PH is a precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel with copper and niobium additions. The grade combines high strength, hardness (up to 572°F / 300°C), and corrosion resistance equivalent to Alloy 304 or 430 in most media.

Solution Treatment (Condition A): Heat to 1040°C for 0.5 hours, then air-cool to 30°C. Small sections may be oil quenched.
Age Hardening: Performed at low temperatures to achieve required mechanical properties with typical shrinkage of 0.10% for H1150 condition and 0.05% for H900 condition.
17-4PH stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance compared to standard hardenable stainless steels, comparable to Alloy 304 in most media. For optimal stress corrosion cracking resistance, aging temperatures above 1022°F (550°C) are recommended.
Welding: All conventional welding methods can be used without pre-heating requirements.
Machining: Can be machined in solution-treated condition with rates similar to grade 304 stainless steel.
Additional Services: Cutting, surface polishing, and heat treatment available.
Main Grades: 201, 301, 303Cu, 304, 304L, 309S, 310S, 316L, 316Ti, 317L, 318, 321, 347, 410, 420, 430, 431, 440a/b/c, 904L, 2205, 2507, Hastelloy C276/C4/C22, Inconel 600/625, Incoloy 800/825/825H
