443 stainless steel is a ferritic alloy composed primarily of chromium and titanium, with extremely low carbon content. This unique composition provides exceptional corrosion resistance, particularly against moisture and salt environments.
While most ferritic alloys typically offer less durability than austenitic alloys, the high chromium content in 443 stainless steel makes it at least as corrosion-resistant as 304 stainless steel. Additionally, 443 exhibits lower thermal expansion than 304, resulting in reduced stress and warping under heat conditions.
Note that 443 stainless steel is magnetic due to its high chromium content, but this does not indicate lower quality. Chromium remains one of the most corrosion-resistant metals available.
